This is just before the lights go out. Take a good look, as we'll be in the dark for a while. But, we don't lose all of our senses.

I am alone, thankfully, as I holler at my lamp, "What's the matter with you?"
To my shock, the lamp answers back, "You mean, watts the matter with me?"
Half questioning my sanity, I hesitate, then ask, "Did you just talk to me?"
My lamp apologizes, "Sorry ...I was just trying to shed a little light on the subject."
Insanely, I holler again, "Well, then ...why don't you?
The lamp answers ac-cord-ingly, "It was you who tripped on the cord ...I'm just waiting to be plugged back in."
I can't believe I am being accused by a lamp. I angrily plug it back into a closer plug.
The lamp flickers once, then goes out.

"What a dim-witted suggestion! Now what do you have to say for yourself?"

My lamp sighs, "That all depends upon what you've decided as your 'current' response."

I change the bulb, but to no avail, the lamp still doesn't go on.

My lamp sighs twice, "It's because you didn't want to repeat the mistake of tripping on the cord twice."

I holler, "Obviously, it's you that are not that bright! Tell me why I'd want to trip again!"

My lamp continues to stand upright, "I agree that it is good to plan not to repeat mistakes, but angrily searching for solutions may only create a bigger problem."

I am about to give up, "How can I find any solution in all this ...am I to confess I'm talking to my lamp?"

The lamp talks softly, trying to say it lightly, "I was merely pointing out that you hastily plugged into an overloaded circuit."

I begin to laugh, "What then should I do? Must I choose each time to first consult my lamp?"
My lamp encourages, "It can be frustrating to repeat our mistakes, but we can also repeat how we last corrected the problem."

Aladdin was rather fond of a certain lamp ...though he didn't quite understand everything either.  Perhaps he was afraid he'd rub it the wrong way.  That may be a turn off.

Maybe you've had "one too many hits from the snake!"  But, if you're more concerned with what's real ...then keep plugging away.  And look to the eternal Light ...and relate to the source, through Jesus.

Yes, I would admit that this is a quite strange dialogue ...but, I guess I still have a feeling of some sort of kinship with those I've worked with for well over thirty years.

But, my sanity comes from what has been shown to me ...to be real.
